It's Coming... {Project Update}

...can you feel it in the air? We're already a few days from the beginning of Advent (and after that, Christmas!), and before you know, it will have been a year since I've started this blog! Sadly, our Christmas will be different this year. My brother left for boot camp yesterday, and we won't be seeing him until late February or early March at the earliest. Please keep him in your prayers!

In other news, I'd like to show you a few of the projects I've been working on recently. The first is an ornament I made after a Pin!

I'll be making more for hostess gifts and to keep. Golly, ornaments are so much fun to make.

Next up is a mustard infinity scarf I'm knitting... and it's not in the round. Yeah, you're shocked. I know you are. But I wasn't too hot on the idea of knitting 640 stitches on my short needles.

Too lazy to get more needles? You bet.

The above is a pile of fabric and patterns I'm hoping will soon become...

Prequel era Jedi robes! Well, I won't be crafting them exactly like Master Gallia's, but the same idea.

(I had her action figure when I was little, and she was my favorite Jedi ever. Besides Obi-Wan, upon whom I crushed for the longest time.)

And last but not least, I am literally 98% done with my Susan Coronation dress from Prince Caspian. That shot should give you an idea of WHY it's been taking me so long to finish it.

Detail. It's all about the detail.

Why You Need A Cape

Why? First of all, ask yourself that question. Why does anyone need a cape? Let me name the reasons...

The Hobbit is coming out, and you want to look fab at the theater like we do in the above picture. Notice that even the people without costumes look amazing...

They can instantly make any costume look better. Believe me when I say that nearly every costume, be it fantasy, steampunk, sci-fi or otherwise, looks ten times better with a cape.

There ya go. Do you need any other reasons? Check out the shop to find your perfect cape!

...don't believe her, by the way. She doesn't know what she's talking about.

All Saints!

Catholics have a special way of celebrating All Hallow's... we have our own special little parties called 'All Saints' Eve', and you come dressed as a Saint or Biblical character. You give a little speech and everyone has to guess who you are. It's loads of fun.

This year, I was Empress Zita of Austria, who isn't technically a saint. HOWEVER, I was 'standing in' for her husband, Blessed Charles of Austria, because I couldn't be him.

I wore this dress because Empress Zita was married in the year 1912, meaning she was a young woman around that time.

I was a little nervous during my speech, and one of my friends came up to me afterwards and said, "Were you going to cry or something?"

Nah. That was just my shaky-knees-buckling voice.

I tied for best presentation for my age group, which is saying a lot, considering that the person I tied with perenially gets that award. I guess I didn't do that bad.

My armor-crafting friend threw this outfit together and got best costume for our age group. He did so with the help of my cape

(And I know you're reading this right now, Pete, come'on... the cape finished the outfit off.)

Not that I was going for best costume... but I think the judges should have taken his SHOES into consideration:

I know I'm gonna get nailed for posting that, but oh well.
