Vintage Pillowcases- Revisited

You know that great feeling when you get a custom order just because of a blog post? Oh yeah. I had that twice. And now; we shall revisit not Brideshead, but my vintage pillows from a few posts back, reincarnated into pillowcases. Cool, huh?

Fun, eh? I really like the way they turned out this time. Much better than last time, that's for sure!

On to my next pillowcase-embroidery project!

Eowyn's Necklace Giveaway!

Giveaway! The word makes Bloggers freak out and do a little happy dance... if they win. If not, then they call a big scam and make everyone else's lives miserable. I'm here today to give you yet ANOTHER chance to do just that.

Today's giveaway?

Eowyn's Necklace, crafted by moi.

I made it a year ago to wear with this dress, and while I sold the dress, I somehow hung onto the necklace. Why I didn't sell it along with the dress, I have no clue. Anyway, this clay version is based off the one Eowyn wears with her gorgeous White Wool dress, and it would look great with a fantasy costume or even with a formal dress. You never know what you could wear with it.

The giveaway rules? 'k, here we go...

Customer Photos: Spring Formal Dress

Imagine the scene: my best friend was scrambling around just weeks before the 'big dance'. She didn't even have a dress and she was so looking forward to it... so, two weeks before the dance, I stepped in and exclaimed in an altruistic voice:

"I will do it!'

If I could go back in time and slap myself, I would. Because I had two other dresses underway and another friend's garment for the same dance. Head desk. All the way.

...but I did it.

She wanted a dress that was toned down to wear to two separate (and entirely different) occasions, but sophisticated enough to make it formal. Here's what we came up with.

Sorry the pictures are so awkward, I only have pictures of her 'in action'. Anyway, I like the design and I think she looked lovely in it.

Her accessories were gold and navy- chic and fun!

To accent the simple line of the dress, I reversed the crepe back satin on the belt and the collar. It gave it some definition, no?

This dress is not for sale, but if you would like one in your size and choice of fabrics, don't hesitate to contact me.

New Laughing Moon Pattern!

Laughing Moon Patterns just released a new Regency Stays pattern!

It comes with two different chemise views and, of course, the corset itself. It's a long stay, unlike the Sense and Sensibility one, and the silhouette it creates can be used for the majority of the Regency era as well as portions of the Romantic era. It looks exciting- one of my seamstress friends already purchased it, and claims it is just as good as their other famed Victorian Corset Pattern. While I have neither pattern, I'm definitely game to try one.

Donations are gladly accepted.

Embroidery Project

I worked on this embroidery project for my mother; it's a Marian symbol stitched onto white linen. This was my first time working with silk embroidery thread- it was as smooth as butter and came out so deliciously lovely!

Glamor and Glitz: My Retro Prom Dress

It was a night to remember. Truly. I think the last time I had that much fun was at wonderful dancing party last December...

The chap on the left looked THE BEST. Tails, gloves, cane, top hat, and the shoes. I dubbed him Charles for the night.

Don't we look like Disney Princesses? (At least the colors...?)

There's the back of my dress, and a detail on the sleeves.

...and me in action. I literally danced all night.

Must have been the perfume.

 ...oh yes. The

What do you think of my dress? A yay or a nay?

Vintage-Inspired Pillows

I made these pillows for a friend who's getting married next week. Did I mention that I'm going to be her photographer? O_o

'His' and 'Hers' pillows for their bed! I based them off of a set of vintage pillow cases I saw in a lovely antique shoppe.

I know I can improve on my embroidery, but I had loads of fun doing these and I think they turned out quite nicely.

Want your own set of vintage-inspired pillowcases? Just shoot me an email and we can discuss prices and such! Don't like the design? I have many more that you can choose from!
